This meme was found on instagram. The reason I chose this meme in particular is because there are several literacies that one must understand in order to comprehend the depth that this meme has. To begin, the first literacy one must possess in order to comprehend this "forbidden cats meme" is to know English. It would be incredibly difficult to decipher any of the meanings if the audience did not know English. The second literacy that one must possess is an understanding of how instagram, twitter, and memes work. Then, more specifically, someone would most likely need a basic understanding of the story of Adam and Eve, to understand the original story of "the forbidden fruit." This way, the audience would understand how these animals are something that the creator of this meme would want but could not have. Then, viewers would want to know where the "forbidden" meme came from, so for full context, would need to understand the original forbidden meme. The original meme is "forbidden fruit snack: the tide pod". Lastly, the audience would need to have a general understanding that the animals present in the meme are definitely not cats!
