This is a collection of body positive books targeted at children as soon as they start reading all the way up into their high school years and beyond. While it shows the books in order of age range, it also provides a summary of each book and a link for purchase! These books are focused on a wide range of topics such as weight, height, skin color, and hair type. The inclusiveness of this list makes it a beneficial translatio of the body positive conversation.



2. 45 Pounds -

Written by K.A. Barson, 45 pounds is a young adult novel that centers around a size 17 sixteen year old girl who feels that the only way that she could be happy is by losing (Approximately) 45 pounds! She comes from a dysfunctional family, and when she feels like she needs to be thin for a wedding, she realizes that there is more to her happiness than her size. She learns to have a positive relationship with food and separates in her mind how she feels about her body and her worth.




When users go to The Body Positive website, they are immediately greeted by an image of a plethora of people standing together, and they all look different! The part of the photo that creates the biggest impact is that they all look happy. The Body Positive is a resource site that continues the conversation of a healthy relationship between appearance, mental and physical health, and the self. They have a collection of resources that help educators and leaders learn how to help teens and young adults live healthily in the bodies they are in, without a constant inner struggle. This website is another translatio of the body positive conversation while also being an essential resource for educators!


4. Megan Jayne Crabbe -

Also known as @bodyposipanda on Instagram and other social media platforms, Megan Crabbe is a body positive influencer who uses her platform to encourage people to love themselves. One of her main focuses as someone with a platform is to just take up space and not feel bad about it! She constantly is seen in bright colors and provides advice to any person who wants to feel better about their own body. Her page is an example of how teens can have access to positive content on popular platforms. 




This article from The guardian showcases opinions from teens regarding young adult fiction and the impact it has on their peers. Teens in this article have stated that what they read in young adult fiction impacts them, and the more they read about people being confident with themselves, the more confident they are in themselves.
